Description

The Aeromerican Ambush VTOL UAV

The Aeromerican Ambush is based around a platform optimized to convert to VTOL, the ZOHD Altus. The tilt-rotor tricopter configuration reduces additional lift-motor weight by reusing 2 of the 3 lift motors for fixed-wing propulsion. With quickly detachable wings and boom style tail, this airframe breaks down into an exceptionally portable package with the entire system fitting into an airline carry-on compatible hard case.

This aircraft is best integrated with size, weight, and power constraint (SWaP-C) optimized payloads like the FLIR Hadron 640R in either a downfacing configuration or on a lightweight gimbal. This UAV is a mobile element’s best friend. The small packability of this systems allows it to fit in a generous backpack or be carried. This is our favorite platform to tackle smaller jobs with on a daily basis due to its light weight, portability, and efficiency with flight times comfortably exceeding 30 minutes with small payloads. Batteries are very easy to swap and, given their small size, many can be carried in the case.

Starting at $2700.

Lead Time

All systems are built to order and fully customizable. Our production lead time is 1 – 3 weeks barring supply chain complications.

Quality & Compliance

There is a massive performance difference between Chinese plug-n-play (PNP) components that are often included with kits and professional quality hardware. At Aeromerican, we pride ourselves on integrating the most robust, mission capable VTOL UAVs. The components we’ve chosen to integrate into our aircraft are flight proven, industry proven, and selected based on rigorous engineering data. We trust our UAVs because we trust the critical components that go into them.

Our NDAA compliant versions are integrated with components that ensure data security and integrity. Our compliance ensures that flight controllers, any wireless transmission devices (radios), data handling hardware, cameras, gimbals, autopilot software, ground control system hardware and software, storage devices, network connectivity hardware and software, etc are sourced from secure supply chains. No critical components are sourced from manufacturers domiciled in China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia or from manufactures on the SAM.gov prohibited list. Our NDAA compliant aircraft are 2024 NDAA Section 1821 American Security Drone Act compliant, 2023 NDAA Section 817 compliant, and 2020 NDAA Section 848 compliant.

Our non-compliant versions are still made with quality, reliable, flight proven components albeit at a more attractive price point. Several of the components in our non-compliant versions remain NDAA compliant but the system overall is non-compliant. We recommend these non-compliant versions for operators/procurers that are not utilizing federal government funding to acquire these platforms (wildfire management, search and rescue, and law enforcement have special exemptions under the NDAA).
